The Flying V theme was abandoned in 1985 to feature the teams emblem. The Canucks used versions of the Johnny Canuck logo for their team jerseys from about 1952 until they joined the National Hockey League during the 1970 expansion. The Orca is now the longest-serving logo in franchise history but the Canucks have made alterations to it before.

When I first designed the logo I was a graphic designer. The Canucks introduced the orca logo which was created by artist Brent Lynch in 1997. The Canucks eliminate the VANCOUVER wordmark from above the crest.

As part of the rebranding Beyl and Boyd chose a logo designed by Mike Bull. But at the time I was freelancing on my own. Their current logo is good although it could be better if it featured more green like their uniforms.
